World Labs also develops rendering and 3D tooling around these worlds, including Spark, described as a web-based 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) renderer for THREE.js/WebGL2, and introduces Atlas, an omni (text/image/video/3D) “world model” positioned as next-generation and intended to improve with scaling compute. Strategically, World Labs is moving from model development into distribution and integration: it secured large funding in 2024 (initial public launch coming out of stealth), followed by a subsequent $1B round in 2026 and an announced $200M investment from Autodesk as part of that round, plus infrastructure-focused investment activity (e.g., Cisco Investments). In 2026 it also acquired SceniX, expanding its focus from virtual 3D world generation toward robotics-oriented simulation via a “real-to-sim-to-real” (R2S2R) loop for training and evaluation. Collectively, these steps indicate a strategy to couple high-fidelity, explorable 3D world generation with simulation loops that can be used for robotics training and testing, while also serving creative/industrial workflows (e.g., entertainment, design, and architecture) via API and tooling integrations.
