The Cambridge Boston Alignment Initiative (CBAI) is a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2022. Its mission is to advance research and education aimed at helping society navigate a safe and beneficial transition to advanced AI systems; CBAI carries out educational programming, conducts and supports AI-alignment–directed research, and disseminates findings to experts and the public.
CBAI also provides operational support for student-run AI safety research groups in the Boston/Cambridge ecosystem (notably Harvard- and MIT-based teams), and runs residential fellowship and upskilling programs hosted in the Cambridge area.
