Yale Law School (YLS) is the law school of Yale University, based in New Haven, Connecticut. The school’s mission combines legal education, scholarship, and public service: it trains lawyers through doctrinal teaching, clinics and experiential learning, and a dense ecosystem of academic centers and workshops.
YLS is known for an emphasis on public law alongside private law, and for combining interdisciplinary scholarship with practical legal work. In its current strategic leadership transition, Yale Law School’s dean role is scheduled to move from Interim Dean Heather K. Gerken to incoming Dean Cristina Rodríguez on Feb. 1, 2026.
