grantmaking.ai is a public-facing infrastructure and coordination platform for funding AI “x-risk” / existential-risk–reducing work. The platform aims to make AI-safety grantmaking more open and legible by maintaining a searchable directory of organizations, people, projects, funds, and grants, adding “trusted signal” on top (e.g., reviewer context and endorsements), and enabling donors and applicants to find each other based on live funding status rather than stale recommendations shared in private channels.
Its stated mission is to build the grantmaking infrastructure that AI safety is missing. Operationally, grantmaking.ai combines (1) a public directory/database populated from public sources and continuous grant feeds (via partners named on the platform), (2) grant-request workflows such as “launch rounds” and fast “asks” for smaller projects, and (3) an API intended for programmatic access to the public directory and funding-ask workflows. The initial product launch includes a $1M “Launch Round” for existential AI safety work, reviewed by a small panel, with fiscal sponsorship for grantees through Manifund.
