The Canadian Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (CAISI) is a Government of Canada initiative housed at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED). CAISI’s stated goal is to advance the science of AI safety in collaboration with international partners, so that governments can understand and act on risks from advanced AI systems.
The institute focuses on risks including synthetic content (such as impersonation and fraud) and risks from systems that may be dangerous or hinder human oversight, and it works with experts across government, business, academia, and research organizations.
