The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a bipartisan, nonprofit U.S. policy research organization based in Washington, DC, focused on advancing practical policy ideas to address national security, technology, geopolitics, and global development challenges. CSIS describes its purpose as defining the future of national security and emphasizes cross-disciplinary, nonpartisan research that is meant to be usable by policymakers—through original data, open-source analysis, and multimedia/data visualization.
CSIS’s current institutional structure is organized around four core public policy areas: defense and security; geopolitics and foreign policy; economic security and technology; and global development.
