The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) is an independent, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and educational think tank based in Washington, D.C. It formulates, evaluates, and promotes policy solutions aimed at accelerating innovation and boosting productivity to spur growth, opportunity, and progress.
ITIF’s work is organized through multiple policy centers and affiliated projects spanning data-driven innovation, clean energy innovation, competition policy, life sciences innovation, industrial strategy, defense of U.S. tech leadership, and Canada/Korea competitiveness efforts. In addition, ITIF spearheads the Global Trade and Innovation Policy Alliance, a network of think tanks focused on evidence-based innovation and trade policy. ITIF also emphasizes its ability to translate policy debates into concrete recommendations—its “impact” section highlights adoption of certain elements of ITIF proposals in major U.S. policy initiatives, and it describes engagement with federal and state policymakers through reports, testimony/filings, and other publications. Recent organizational focus includes AI governance and competitiveness, technology infrastructure (including data centers), and issues at the intersection of antitrust/competition enforcement and innovation incentives.
