It describes its mission around (1) “academic field building” to expand AI law/policy research within U.S. universities and (2) “talent development,” including part-time virtual courses and a fellowship pathway aimed at helping students and early-career researchers build skills and networks for careers in AI governance.
The institute also runs in-person workshops, including national-security-focused AI policy convenings and AI law/policy workshops intended to bring together legal experts, policy researchers, government staff, and select students.
