The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) supports multilateral efforts to achieve the goal of general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control, and works to promote the elimination of weapons of mass destruction and the strict control of conventional weapons. UNODA does this by promoting norm-setting and multilateral agreements, facilitating dialogue among Member States and other stakeholders, and advocating for concrete and effective solutions that support sustainable peace and development.
UNODA also provides substantive support to key disarmament bodies and processes, and runs a range of capacity-building, fellowship, and trust-fund style initiatives that translate global disarmament commitments into practical assistance for states and implementing partners.
